As you may know, Texan Bar Time has moved to The Brass Ring, Fort Worth, Texas. We sold Tex to Don and Pam Denman, Keller, Texas and Jim and Georgia Snow, Quinlan Texas in the summer of 1997. Denman and Snow also purchased three daughters of Texan Bar Time, one son and a granddaughter. Denman and Snow subsequently sold Tex to interests that have placed him at The Brass Ring.
In the ten years that we were fortunate enough to own Texan Bar Time, he firmly established himself as the heart and soul of our Paint horse program. All of our remaining Paint brood mares are his daughters except for one granddaughter and one proven breeding stock overo mare.
Not enough can be said about what Tex has done for Kirkwall Moor Ranch. No other stallion we have used has succeeded in comparison in combing size, soundness, disposition, and colour in his foals. A recent photograph of Tex is featured in the Brass Ring advertisements in the December, 1998 to March 1999 issues of The Paint Horse Journal. This photograph clearly exhibits the exceptionally beautiful head he possesses. The majority of his foals clearly exhibit this feature. The very few that do not produce a high percentage of foals with these beautiful faces.
No other stallion that we have used to this point in time in the history of our program to date has exhibited the prepotency of Texan Bar Time. (A Tru Natural has come close, which is quite an accomplishment in itself. Our first set of foals is just set to arrive sired by Creek Affair, so the jury is still out on his abilities as a sire in our program.)
Texan Bar Time progeny have been sold to Europe, all four western provinces, Texas, California, Georgia, Kentucky and Hawaii.
His sons are highly sought after as breeding stallions and professional rope horses. His daughters have repeatedly succeeded in producing foals that have excelled at everything from halter and western pleasure to timed performance events. His progeny of either sex out of taller, angular mares adapt easily to elegant hunters and jumpers. Very few stallions consistently exhibit the ability to sire progeny with such a broad range of attributes.
The record of Texs' daughters of producing superior quality breeding stock is demonstrated by his grandsons that are emerging as premier sires.
His tremendous prepotency for colour is evidenced by his sons and daughters that are featured on our other web pages.
It is because of his strength as a breeding horse that we have been able to incorporate Quarter Horse stallions back into our Paint program in pursuit of the genetics that we value in the types of horses we produce.
We are retaining one of his sons and one closely line bred daughter to re-introduce back into our Paint breeding program in 2001 to ensure that we do not get too far away from his direct influence as father time marches on.
A once in a lifetime horse for whom we will always have a special place in our minds and our hearts.
